Leaning Into The Storm- A couple under a red umbrella.

Leaning into the Storm

Rain hits the window sharp and loud right now
Cold drops chase each other down the glass streaked with silver
The sky presses heavy gray, a weight I feel in my chest
Thoughts twist tight, a storm inside that matches the one outside
Each breath pulls harder as the flood rises beneath my ribs
I sit holding it all, the noise, the ache, the relentless pull

The thunder crashes inside my head matching the rain’s fury
As a dominant I am expected to stand firm, unshaken, but cracks show deep
The stress overwhelms me just as it overwhelms her in silence
She leans close steady not as submissive but as partner in this flood
Her hands catch the tremble I refuse to show to the world
Together we face the storm as equals braced against the flood

Her breath cuts through the roar steady and soft like falling rain
In her eyes I find shelter beyond the crushing weight of demand
Outside the rain pounds relentless but inside we hold something real
No master no servant just two souls holding through the flood
Side by side carrying the storm without breaking apart
The rain keeps falling steady a pulse beneath our shared strength

Inside soaked in silence unbroken despite the flood’s roar
She holds me firm strength gentle as the steady rain around us
Together we lean into the gathering storm not away from it
Overwhelm loses its edge held by hands that do not falter
Facing the flood as one beneath endless skies heavy with rain
I carry the flood no longer alone leaning into her calm
